The McDonald’s sauce and three other menu items: the Bacon Caesar McCrispy sandwich, the Caesar Snack Wrap, and the newly upgraded McCrispy Strips meant for dipping are set to launch in all locations across the country on July 21. It’s launch day, and there’s more than a million reviews flooding the streets of social media. Food testers have already gotten a head start in testing everything, and the comment section on Instagram is split into two groups: those who love it and those who keep on asking where the salad is.

But, if your “for you page” on Tiktok has been filled with mukbangs, and different chefs cooking, you must have noticed the reviews coming in early.

TikTok Creators Are Already Rating It

Jeksam, a duo TikTok creator tried the Bacon Caesar McCrispy and rated it a decent 7 out of 10 because he wasn’t too vast on Caesar dressing. When they tried it on the Strip, they thought it had a little mayonnaise taste to it. The Caesar snack wrap however, made a difference because it reminded him a lot about the Caesar salad.

It now seems a lot like the McDonald’s Caesar Snack Wrap is drawing a long margin between the three menu items. One creator scored it 7.5/10 and said this was the better order of the two because of the right sauce-to-chicken balance in the wrap. Have a look at the Snackolator’s TikTok Review or try the taste test menu from the HellthyJunkFood TikTok Taste Test. So, if you’re already undecided on what to order, the wrap is currently winning the internet’s vote.

Instagram Is Split Between Joy and One Big Demand

When McDonald’s announced the arrival of this sauce through an Instagram teaser video, the comments went both ways. Many people just couldn’t wait for the product’s release. But others were more interested in the fact that there was nothing to put the sauce on.

The Instagram announcement post on @mcdonalds and food tracking pages like @snackwire even started a big McDonald’s salad comeback thread. As highlighted in reporting by Fox News, a frustrated user asked, “To put on what?! Salads still aren’t back”. Others immediately flooded the feed, with one user writing, “Ok now they need to bring back their salads!!” while another demanded, “BRING BACK THE SALADS NOWWWWW”.

It’s no surprise because this same energy was brought to the table when McDonald’s announced they were bringing Fried Apple Pie back for a limited run.

The McDonald’s Effect And Why It Always Works

There’s no official name for the McDonald’s effect. It has just been a pattern where one food drops, disappears, waits years, reintroduces itself and then watches the internet lose its mind.

The Szechuan Sauce is the best example for this effect. McDonald’s introduced it way back in 1998 to promote the release of the movie “Mulan.” Two decades later, it felt like McDonald’s had forgotten this sauce even existed. Thanks to a joke in the animated television show “Rick and Morty” in 2017, it became an internet meme, and when McDonald’s offered to sell it again for just one day that year, people waited in lines for hours and even got into fights over a condiment.

The Snack Wrap was also taken off the menu in 2016, but when people signed a lot of petitions for nine years at least, it gave it another chance and in 2025, it was brought back. In 2020, McDonald’s stopped serving their chicken Caesar salads, as well as other salads on their menu, and has not brought any of them back.

The idea of making a sauce that has the same flavor with the Caesar salad is one marketing strategy as it pulls from a lot of nostalgia without bringing the original back. Does this satisfy the “bring back the salad comments?” Well, we’ll see about that.

The one thing both of these menus have in common is scarcity and memory. There’s no need for McDonald’s to figure out what their consumers want because they have this information in their comment sections. All they need to do is throw a little nostalgia in whatever product they decide to sell.

Why This Moment Is Worth Paying Attention To

Content about food, specifically the ones that revolve around food launch, tasting, and “is it worth it?”, is currently being pushed by women in a major way. Those reviewing them, the commenters wanting their salad back and those deciding whether they should order any of these items on July 21. You can check out either Kayleigh Leon’s TikTok Review or the Ben Carthew TikTok Review.

So, are you team snack wrap, hoping that perhaps the salad will have its own comeback, or are you waiting until after July 21 to try all three?
